The Yale Community Voices Archive (YCVA) captures digital materials related to issues of diversity and inclusion on campus during the 2015-2016 academic year. Because the tool’s development was understood as integral to a broader campus conversation on inclusion, I orchestrated an ongoing needs assessment and engagement with a variety of communities and the Yale Digital Humanities Lab to develop and design a responsive and integrated application for the University Archives. The born digital material produced by and related to these conversations will be gathered from the stakeholders themselves through this participatory platform. The project also responds to the demand from scholars and archivists seeking a user-friendly and secure means of collecting and preserving digital content.
Future curation will be community-based, drawing on the resources of the Yale University Archives and the Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity and Transnational Migration.
